What is an artist? On this course we take a peep into the lives and works of people who devote their life to art.

We show the children the wide variety of different art forms that artists use. We will be creating our own, inspired by a different artist every week, making Basquiat crowns, geometric patterns with Escher and paper dolls with fashion designer Mary Quant. We will use different skills, techniques and materials to find out what being a real artist is like.

In these lessons the children will discover that art is not just for books and frames, but all around us. The clothes we wear, the furniture we use and the buildings we’re in have all been created by artists.
